Christine's Bio

I have spent 22 years watching computers and the technological age creep into my life. Mostly, I've adopted these new conveniences and used them extensively in my vocation, acupuncture, and my avocation, music. But I've begun to see the technology revolution take its toll on us. I've been sharing complaints with friends and clients of shrinking attention spans and failing memory. I've been seeing health start to suffer with weight gain, lingering head colds, blood pressure and cholesterol numbers heading skywards. And more. What's happening to us all?

If that weren't enough, our harried lifestyles find us constantly rushing around, working long hours, and having to field too much information, too much advertising and too much entertainment. We make hasty, ill-considered decisions. And are left with precious little time for friends and leisure. We're Exhausted! Consequently, say the research scientists, our genes are going nuts.

Personally, I am very protective of my health and dual passions of playing jazz and being a competitive athlete. I make sure that I preserve my personal time in the face of the fast-moving world. But it hasn't been easy for me, as I am sure it is a great challenge for you.

In the last 5 years, I've researched scientific studies and programs that promise to help my clients and me stay calm, quiet and centered as the world outside goes rushing by. In addition, I've found books, DVD's and CD's that reinforce and give added definition to my work. My coaching practice reflects this growth. I am very clear now on how to help people find balance in their lives and in setting priorities and goals. Once our purpose is defined, we can move forward smoothly with our lives.

On the academic front, I have earned certificates from the prestigious American College of Sport's Medicine and from Dr. Harold Kristal for Personal Metabolic Nutrition. With 10 years of practice and a Master's Degree as a New York State licensed acupuncturist, I specialize in autoimmune and hormonal imbalances. I have graduated from the International Coaching Academy and incorporate Life Coaching techniques into my work.

As an athlete, I have competed internationally in power lifting and as an elite STREND athlete. I have many years of training in Tai Qi and Qi Gong meditation. Running has always been dear to me, and I currently am training for a triathlon.

I enjoy working with former high school or college athletes, eager to get back into competition. Many are now Masters athletes, ages 40 to 70, who have returned to a high level of competition in a relatively short period of time. I love hearing the success stories from their meets. Gold medals are nice, too...

We all realize not everyone likes to exercise or eat well; I also work with people ready to get some help in this department. Are you, like my friends, noticing your health starting to suffer? G.O.T. Coaching may be for you.

I am especially gratified when working with people determined to pick up those musical instruments gathering dust in the closet. What's tucked away in your closet? Knowing how important music has always been for me, I can coach you to find the time to practice and regain the passion you once had for your music, too.

Did you ever write or paint? Have you done crafts like ceramics or knitting? Would you like to get back to it, or start something new? I can help with that, too. Take a look at the rest of the site, and contact me at sotmary@gmail.com.

I am especially happy to see the positive health effects, in myself and others, that are the result of taking stock and making conscious choices toward an F.I.T. and Fabulous life.
